The heartbeat

“Reiki drumming connects our heartbeat to the heartbeat of Mother Earth.”

Reiki is infused into the drum, so every beat sends out a vibration of Reiki energy. I drum a slow, steady rhythm over your body and each chakra, and the mind makes space.

It's a quick way out of your head and into your body. It can feel intense at first, and then most people settle into deep relaxation, sometimes almost a trance.

Where it comes from

A rhythm far older than Reiki

Cultures all over the world have drummed for ceremony and healing. Reiki drumming brings the two together.

  1. 1

    For thousands of years

    Sacred ceremony

Drumming practised by cultures around the world, for ceremony and for healing.

  2. 2

    1999

    Drum meets Reiki

Michael Arthur Baird combined the two and began sharing Reiki drumming with the world.

  3. 3

    Today

    Otis, in the cabin

I trained as a Reiki Drum Master and Teacher. Now it's one of my favourite sessions to give.

Meet Otis

His name came to me in a drumming meditation

My drum is called Otis. The name was given to me in a meditative state while I was drumming on my training course.

I love connecting with the ancestors and feeling the vibration lift the energy in the whole room, and everyone in it. Before we begin, I'll test his sound on you, so you know exactly how he feels.

Feel into the heartbeat of Mother Earth.

Five beats, about 90 minutes

  1. Beat 1

    The space is held

Before you arrive I call in the four quarters for protection and support.

  2. Beat 2

    Cleanse and chat

I cleanse your energy with smoke, then we talk about how you're feeling.

  3. Beat 3

    I test the drum

You sit or lie down. I test Otis's sound on you first so you can feel at ease.

  4. Beat 4

    The drumming

A slow, steady beat over your body and chakras, with hands-on Reiki where I'm guided. I show you the placements first, or I hover.

We finish with a card and talk about anything that came up.
